c0901 Purple Chiffon and Lycra Gathered Fancy Costume     $260
Price for three or more (paid with single payment and shipped to single address) is $245

SOLD OUT
This was a single run of a custom order, a one-of-a-kind group; once they're gone, they are gone.
THIS COSTUME CAN NOT BE ORDERED INDIVIDUALLY. Will there be more? Extras of troupe orders are always made, many of which are sold through this site. It's possible the stray piece will show up, but it's impossible to know when/how many. It's also possible that a popular costume will be made again in multiples for off-the-rack sales, but it can't be said when.TROUPE ORDERS - (5 or more) It's impossible to have costumes EXACTLY duplicated. However, as with any troupe order, you can place an order (5 or more) based on this style. Contact Karolinka for information on troupe orders.

Made in Egypt. Incredibly beautiful, loads of glass beadwork and crystals at an unheard of price! Lycra, with chiffon insets (flares) in skirt, gathered chiffon piece across front of hips fastened with 2" peacock acrylic crystal. MANY large (1/4"+) strung rhinestones as well as individual crystals (I believe acrylic, but extremely high quality, very reflective). See detail photo for beadwork. Much glass (seed, tumbled square cut bugles, many extra long traditional smooth bugles, very expensive), plus sequins, in purples, pinks, silvers, gold. Nice, high quality costume bra cups, not squashy, fairly but not excessively cupped (deep). Skirt has back zipper, bra is halter.

Accessories: Matching beaded gauntlets, headband

Age/Condition: New. BUT WHY SO CHEAP????? This costume, in both overall design and beadwork (including the amount of work, the beautiful design, quality of the beads and crystals and quality of the beadwork) I would expect to be selling for at least $100 more. They were made in bulk, for one thing. And honestly, there are some small things that come from workers going fast, that you wouldn't see in a $350 costume... although wait, I take that back, you'd be suprised at the garbage you see on some expensive costumes (YOU never see it because I fix it :)! ). IF I HAVE TIME I will take care of most of this, which is what I usually do on all costumes. However, because I am keeping the price to YOU low, I'm making very little on these and I need to keep my invested time down.

All I'm talking about is two things: 1) a lot of the beadwork threads on the inside are not tied off, they are just stitched through a few times and then a looooong piece of thread left. This is actually pretty standard practice, but I usually tie them off or glue them off at least on stress points of the costume, that generally means where it's most likely to be stretched (hips, waist) or roughed up (hems, edges). Actually, where the fabric is not pulled much, it's probably ok to leave as long as beading isn't actually loose on the outside, and on these everything is generally nice and tight. You'll have to take care of this (and it's actually good practice to do so on all your costumes!). This likely will be most evident on the skirt top and hem edging, which get a lot of handling wear, and so is more likely to pull loose. So check over carefully and tie off of glue off loose ends. If there is major bead loss I'll take care of it.

The second thing: the inside edges of the chiffon are not finished (grr!!), which means anywhere they don't happen to be cut on the bias, they will be fraying. My suggestions: Fray Check or super glue or whatever your favorite fabric glue is -- you can likely glue light dots or short lines spaced a bit apart, as opposed to running a glue line down the whole edge. If you are a sewer you could also use bias lace, which would really be the best solution.

Bras

General notes on bras:
Some tend towards being long across the cups, however, I think this is because of the angle the cups are put together at. Some are tilted a bit toward the outside. This is easily remedied by a few stitches at bottom of cleavage "V" to pull cups together. Then, they are more traditionally shaped, upright trianglular cups. I note the most angled out of these.

When "wide" comes before the band number (e.g. "wide 34 B/C"), I think cups may be a little wide across/far apart in the middle for any of that size (any 34 in this case). If "wide" comes after the band number and before the cup size, I think it may be a bit wide for just that cup size, usually meaning you may be lacking in cleavage fill. Also relatively easy to remedy; you can try stitching bottom of cups together as above; for more hints see How to Buy a Costume That Fits, which includes altering tips (scroll down). A "+" after the cup size, like "C+," just means I think it can go to a pretty full C (or whatever)

The "Underbust" measurement in most cases is going to be irrelevant. This is a measurement from one end of the back straps, across bottom of cups, to other end of the backstraps. So, if the maker has included a lot of extra backstrap, you might have a huge "underbust" measurement, which has nothing to do with the size of the ribcage of the person the bra will fit. However, these didn't have super-excessively long back straps, so I went ahead and included, just in case.

Bras

  • 1) SOLD Should fit range including wide 34 B+/C+, MAYBE small D; 36 B/not large C. Underbust of bra = 34"
  • 2) SOLD Same as 1
  • 3) SOLD Same as 1, possibly a squidge more room in the cups, a little deeper.

The following 3 bras have cups that appear to be especially tilted outward, resulting in wide measurement across the cups. Easily changed, if needed, see "General Notes," above.

  • 4) SOLD Should fit range including wide 34 C+/D. Underbust of bra = 35"
  • 5) SOLD Same as 4
  • 6) SOLD Same as 4 but underbust of bra = 34"

  • 7) SOLD Should fit range including wide 34 C/D, 36 B/C. Underbust of bra = "36
  • 8) SOLD Should fit range including widish 36 B+/C/small D, 38 B/C. Underbust of bra = 37"
  • 9) SOLD Should fit range including 36 wide C/D, 38 B/C. Underbust of bra = 37"
  • 10) SOLD Should fit range including wide 36 D/DD, 38 C+/D, 40 B/C. Underbust of bra = 36"
Skirts

General notes:
The elastic at the top of these is pretty tight. The fabric will stretch to the maximum I give, but you may want to loosen the elastic to get there. All but one have fully cased elastic (it's inside the fabric). You can open at the seams, if they are available (not beaded over), or just cut the lycra to get at the elastic. Then, one thing you could do then is safety pin to fabric (so elastic doesn't get away from you) on each side of where you will make elastic cut, cut the elastic, undo safety pin (from fabric) and let the elastic go back into the casing (loosen). Stitch down the elastic end (through the lycra all the way). Scootch back casing to recover your safety pin.

Hip measurements: I think I was a little less conservative than I sometimes am on the maximum, in other words the maximum shown may be pretty body hugging. But I'm guessing you could get another inch or two out of them.

Length: these are all relatively short (compared to what we usually see). However, you can bet your boots that if you hang them they will stretch, the beading is very heavy. In fact I am currently storing most of them hanging right now, so they may even be a little longer by the time you get them.

  • Know you want it? Make sure you get it by "Expedited Ordering" - immediately send payment for merchandise amount only and it's yours. You'll then owe for shipping. PLEASE do NOT add extra or try to estimate shipping cost. Read "How To Order" for details, obligations.
  • Until further notice, processing time (time until your order is shipped) may be from 1 up to 7 business days.
  • Need it fast? Please let me know. Send event name/type & date. Email will get you fastest replies. . Rush charges may apply.
  • If any question arises, the person who pays at least the merchandise price in full for the costume gets the costume (must follow up with shipping payment, if paying separately). Asking for shipping cost or asking for a costume to be held or promising you're going to pay do not hold a costume.
  • Email inquiries if possible and appropriate, it is much easier for me to quickly answer emails vs. phone calls. Please include both the number and the NAME of the costume you are asking about. Don't forget your ZIP CODE (just your city won't do it) if you want shipping cost.
